Travis Scott was taken
into custody in Miami after being suspected of disorderly intoxication and
trespassing following an altercation on a boat in the early hours of Thursday.
The American rapper, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster, was apprehended
by law enforcement at Miami Beach Marina around 01:45 local time, as per
official reports.
According to an arrest
report from the Miami Beach Police Department, officers responded to a call
about a disturbance on a yacht where individuals were engaged in a physical
altercation. Travis Scott was observed shouting at individuals on the vessel,
and officers noted a strong smell of alcohol on his breath during their
interaction with him.
Despite being instructed
to leave the dock, Scott reportedly walked away while yelling obscenities at
those on the yacht. He later attempted to return to the area, displaying
erratic behavior and disregarding commands from law enforcement. The rapper's
actions caused a disturbance among local residents, leading to his eventual
arrest.
Following his
apprehension, Travis Scott admitted to consuming alcohol and justified his
behavior by stating, "It's Miami." The 33-year-old artist, known for
his successful music career and high-profile relationships, is scheduled to
kick off his European tour in the Netherlands later this month, with
performances planned in London and Manchester in July.
In 2021, a crowd surge at Scott’s
Astroworld festival in Houston resulted in 10 fan deaths, although he did not
face criminal charges related to the incident123. His UK number one album, “Utopia,”
was released last year1.
